We were really excited for this movie. I was reluctant at first but in the end gave into the hoopla and saw it the first day it was out on Danielle's birthday.

it started great. Everything seemed right. The acting was good, the music was awesome, it was only a matter of time before Max was sent to his room without his dinner. He wasn't sent to room to dinner, instead he had a tantrum and ran out of house....the movie was down hill from there.

The movie stayed true to the story a little bit, but it was obvious, from the moment the monsters spoke that it was not going to stick to it for long. There were personal problems, there were relationships, there were things that i didn't care to see.

It was a symbolic movie. And i suppose significant to children and parents, but i would definetly not recommend it to either. It was too scary and dangerous for kids and to trouble inspiring to parents, and to those of us who aren't either it was boring.

The costumes were cool, the acting was good, and the overall look was pretty sweet. But none of that made up for the absence of a decent story which it originated as.

I'm still gonna at least rent it. Will it ruin the book at all though...

i don't think it will ruin the book. and i would recommend renting it maybe just to see the cool stuff. but throwing such a complex plot to story who's simplicity was made it stand out completely alters the story. They would've been better off starting from scratch.

In my opinion, its hard to make a good movie based off a children's book that only has around 20 pages. Some things truly are left to the imagination ....

I just read the book and i worried about the movie. It does the book justice. There are a couple of minor changes but for the most part i think it did a really good job of conveying the f-d up tone of the movie. It makes me want to build a bomb she…
