madison.decider.com:
Chicago band Disappears takes the basic tools that a garage-rock band might use--tough-sounding vocals, warm-toned guitars, keyboards, a pulsing rhythm section--and polishes them all into sleek, hyper-modern blades, then pours a heap of reverb on top of the whole mix. It's a sound that aims to be stark and enveloping all at once, and at times there's the throbbing drone of an old Suicide or Velvet Underground song. As forbidding and abstract as that sounds on paper, Disappears can also rock out to rewarding effect on songs like "Hearing Things." Fellow Chicagoans Stranger Waves bring a similarly bleak edge to jangling, shrieking, and weirdly catchy proto-punk-pop tunes.
high-noon.com:
Disappears is a Chicago based band containing two former Boas, one former Pony and this guy, Damon. They play a trance-y brand of Boogie Rock and as of Nov. 17, 2008 have three releases bearing their name: two singles and one tour-only CD. Punk/indie band, Stranger Waves, recently won the Chicago Reader 2009 best rock band honors. "All Tiny Creatures' instrumentals blur the line between what a live band can do and what an electronics-obsessed experimenter can create alone at home." (Decider Madison)
